In CLANED® boards are subdivided into “modules”. These are a way to organize your learning content into thematic, time-based or other sensible structures. You should think about modules as a table of contents. Modules provide an overview of what is to come and are therefore important element that supports the learning process.
All boards in CLANED® get created with a default single module, titled “Module Title”. To start, try renaming the module and adding a description.
Locate and click the 3 dots next to the title “module” and select “edit” from the menu.
Once you select edit a pop-up window will open allowing you to change the modules name and give it a description.
Don’t forget the importance of giving objects good names and useful descriptions when making a course. If you’re using thematic modules then aim for the title to capture that them. If they are time based (eg. Week 1) include dates so learners know exactly when they should be viewing the content. Same is true for descriptions – remember to describe what the module is about and how you expect learners to proceed.
To add modules to a board, simply click the ”ADD MODULE” button.
Give the module a name and click “SAVE”.
Modules get added in sequential order – meaning the last one you add will be the first to appear on the page.
To change the order, Click the “REARRANGE MODULES” button to the left of the “ADD MODULE” button.
This will cause you to see all module titles at the top of the content tab, below the “REARRANGE MODULES” button. To move them around simply click on the title of module you want to move and drag and drop to the desired location.
Editing module visibility
Under “Module visibility” there are 3 options:
- Published – content visible and accessible to learners.
- Hidden - Content hidden and inaccessible to learners.
- Scheduled – module will be hidden until a specified time & date
Editing module sharing under permissions
Permissions let’s you make some modules collaborative – meaning learners can add content to them such as assignments for peer- review. To enable this feature, select permissions from the module menu and check the box in the pop-up window and hit save.
You’ll see this icon appear on the right side of the module title bar:
