The CLANED® AI groups learners according to their content, challenge, and skill ratings and also how much time they spend studying a particular topic or content. Read more about ratings HERE.
The “Topic Group” report focuses on time spent studying various materials to establish groups of similar behaviour. You can examine general or detailed differences, with detailed being more nuanced about the differences in learner’s ratings. By clicking on one of the circles representing a group you can see what the connecting factors are defining the group.
Analytics Reports: Topic Group
Notice how the group breakdown differs between the general and detailed views.
Connecting Factors
Available from both general and detailed learner groupings, the connecting factors provide deeper insight into content activity and learner performance. When you click on a groups circle, the connecting factors are displayed below. There are 2 ways to look at the connecting factors: “Articles” and “Topics”.
The “Articles” view relates to individual course contents, and topics refers to more general themes or topics present in the course according to CLANED AI.
Underneath the “Article/Topic” view selection, a color bar shows the number of visits a content/topic received from the group from 1 to highest view number. The individual articles/topics appear in bars of color which are shaded and appear somewhere within this scale.
Above is an example of the Article view and below is an example of the Topic view.
Challenge Group
The “Challenge Group” report looks very similar to the Topic group report, only this time it uses learners’ difficulty and skill ratings to form groups.
All the same views and options are available as in the topic group reports but the connecting factors scale relates to how challenging users found content and how difficult they find particular topics or themes withing the course.
While both topic group and challenge group reports focus on groups of similarly performing learners, at the bottom of the reports you’ll find a drop-down menu that allows you to view individual learners.
Much like the time and frequency analytic reports, you can view the break down for individual learners by going to the bottom of the report and selecting an individual from the drop-down list show here.
