This article will explain the steps you can take to fix blurry or unclear documents (documents that have spots and are hard to read). There is a known issue affecting some devices where web documents (PDFs) aren't rendering correctly and appear with spots, blurry text, or missing parts of the text entirely. The bug is not directly related to Claned, but instead is caused by the computer's graphics card driver and Google Chrome's implementation of hardware acceleration when rendering 2D canvases. More info here.
There's four options that might help fix the issue:
1. Upgrading your Windows operating system to the latest version
2. Disabling hardware acceleration in your browser
3. Use a different browser like Firefox
4. Updating your graphics card driver
1. If you are a Windows user, please upgrade to Windows 11 first, as this may solve the issue right away.
2. If upgrading to Windows 11 did not fix the issue, then you can try toggling Chrome's "hardware acceleration" feature.
Hardware acceleration means that your browser offloads some of the processing of web-accessed materials onto your devices' graphics card and CPU. Unfortunately, on some devices/operating systems this can cause problems in rendering text. Since recent changes to Chrome and Chromium-based browsers resulted in hardware acceleration becoming a default setting, you must manually turn this feature off.
Disable hardware acceleration in your browser settings by following these steps:
-
Open Chrome
-
Click the horizontal ellipsis menu button in the upper-right corner and click Settings.
3. Click System.
4. In the "System" section, turn off the "Use hardware acceleration when available" toggle switch.
5. Click the Relaunch button to apply changes.
For other Chromium-based browsers like Opera or Edge, just do a Google search for "Disable hardware acceleration" and the name of your browser.
3. If the previous fixes doesn't work, you can try to use another non-Chromium browser like Firefox.
4. Update your graphics card driver.
You can do a Google search for your computer's model and "update graphics card driver" to find further instructions.
