What is a Question Pool?
A question pool allows you to group similar questions under one category and choose how many will be shown to learners. This can make assessments, such as final exams, more challenging by ensuring learners receive different questions at random. However, learners won’t see any indication that a question pool is being used.
How Can a Question Pools Be Used?
You can create one or multiple question pools. For example:
- You can create a single question pool with 15 questions and set it to display 5. This way, if learners retake the test, they are more likely to get different questions.
- If your training covers multiple topics and you want at least one question per topic, you can create multiple question pools. For instance, you could create 5 pools, each containing 3 questions (15 total), and set the system to display 1 question from each pool, so learners answer 5 questions in total.
You can add a question pool to a new or existing assignment. In this article, the assignments have already been created. If you are new to creating assessments, please read our guide here.
Creating question pools:

2. Create a Question Pool by Giving It a Name
-
- In this example, two question pools are created because the assignment includes questions on two different topics.
- Choose how many questions to display and how many points each question is worth.
- It is also possible to create an assignment that includes both question pool questions and standalone questions. Standalone questions will always be shown to learners.
3. Add Questions to the Question Pool or Drag and Drop Existing Questions
- Drag questions using the arrow icon.
